Tengcha, also known as Ampelopsis grossedentata, is a plant of the genus Ampelopsis in the Vitaceae family. It is mainly distributed in provinces and autonomous regions such as Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, and Fujian. The Zhuang and Yao ethnic people in Guangxi, Hunan and other provinces and autonomous regions of China often use its stems and leaves to make beverages. It tastes sweet and light, and is cool in nature. It has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, dispelling wind and dampness, and strengthening the muscles and bones. It is mainly used to treat skin tinea, icteric hepatitis, wind-heat cold, sore throat, acute conjunctivitis, carbuncles and boils.
