Chrysin is present in the seeds and stem bark of Oroxylum indicum (L.) Vent. of the Bignoniaceae family, the heartwood of Pinus monticola Dougl. of the Pinaceae family, the heartwood of P. aristata Engelm., and many other plants.
Modern pharmacological studies have shown that chrysin has a wide range of pharmacological activities, such as anti-tumor, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-pathogenic microorganism, and hypoglycemic effects. Drugs with chrysin as the main active ingredient have been used in many countries and regions. A variety of derivatives obtained by structural modification using chrysin as a lead compound also show comparable or even more excellent pharmacological activities.
