The recombinant Kex2 enzyme is a precursor-processing enzyme belonging to the subtilisin family, capable of specifically recognizing and cleaving the carboxyl-terminal peptide bonds of dibasic amino acid sequences Lys-Arg and Arg-Arg. This enzyme is widely applied in the processing of insulin analog precursors and the enzymatic cleavage processes of other polypeptide or protein-based pharmaceuticals.
