Present Your Findings on a Global Stage

The 21st IAGG World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG)—taking place in San Francisco, California on July 23-27, 2017—welcomes scientists, physicians, technologists, researchers, and innovators in the fields of aging, human health, and disease. Presenters will have the opportunity to present in front of a large international audience of over 6,000 individuals from more than 80 countries.

Submit Your Abstract

The theme for IAGG 2017, “Global Aging and Health: Bridging Science, Policy, and Practice,” will convene professionals from a variety of disciplines such as medicine, nursing, social science, psychological science, finance, and policy to address the toughest challenges in our industry. Read more about abstract submissions. If you have questions regarding the abstract submission, please see the FAQ.

Key Dates:

Submission Opens: April 1, 2016

Submission Closes: July 15, 2016

Abstract Notification: Mid-December 2016

Late Breaker Poster Session will be available for submissions in December 2016

Criteria

Abstracts must be factual and report on significant research findings. The following items will be considered during the review process:

Originality of ideas and methods

High quality science (e.g. appropriate methods and interpretation of findings)

Clarity of theoretical and/or applied implications

Relevance to the tracks’ interests

Diversity amongst the authors (various institutions, international, interdisciplinary)

Quality of writing

Must be based on empirical research projects, report actual results (not promised results) and/or summarize major conclusions

Abstract Review Process

Abstracts will be peer-reviewed and rated on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being poor and 5 being excellent. The scores of reviewers will be averaged, and the average score will be used to determine acceptance status. Would you like to participate in the process as a reviewer? Sign-up opens April 1 and closes July 15, 2017.

Abstract Pre-Review Options for Non-Native English Speakers

Student and Emerging Professionals: for no cost, send your abstract to espo@geron.org by June 22 for a peer-to-peer review.  This pre-review is limited to identifying grammatical errors, inappropriate word choice, and ensuring that the tone of the language is appropriate for an academic abstract submission. This program will not involve a critique of the scientific content or research methods. This review does not guarantee acceptance of the abstract.

Open to all abstract submitters! Enago is available to provide copyediting service for abstract submissions. This service is designed for quality-conscious authors who require a thorough and complete language review for their conference materials. Visit the Enago website to receive a quote for services.

Notification and Presentation

Notifications will be e-mailed to the chair or the primary author regarding the status of each submission by mid-December 2016. The decision of the program committee is final, and changes to abstracts will not be accepted after submission. All accepted abstracts will be published in a supplement issue of The Gerontologist. All individuals attending the meeting—including presenters—are required to register and pay the registration fee.
