1.Background and Overview
In 2017, the nutrition and health industry faced the toughest regulation ever on the R&D, production, sales and use of nutritional and health products. Multi-pronged regulatory policies posed a huge challenge to the industry. With the promulgation and implementation of the "Healthy China" strategy and the Outline of Healthy China Plan 2030, the front of disease prevention and treatment has been advanced constantly and the focus has been shifted from treatment to prevention, creating an unprecedented opportunity for the development of the nutrition and health industry.
In terms of product launch, with the gradual release of guiding documents such as the Working Rules of Health Food Registration, Review, Examination and Approval (2016), the Guide on Health Food Registration Application Service, the Directory of Health Food Materials (I) and the Directory of Health Functions of Health Food Allowed to be Alleged (I), the system of food registration and filing integration will enter the stage of full implementation. Health food registration administration will be more strict and standardized, many enterprises will have to improve their capacity to meet the requirements of new regulations, and the number of newly-declared and approved products will retreat; in terms of product filing, the filing volume of imported health food will surge.
In terms of product sales, with the advancement of the legislative process of the E-Commerce Law, fastest-growing nutrition and health food e-commerce sales will be reengineered, whether the transitional period of the new policies for cross-borer e-commerce will be extended once again, how to conduct effective supervision over nutrition and health food sold through cross-border e-commerce, and how to ensure the safety and orderliness of the nutrition and health food supply chain have become universal industry concerns.
To keep domestic and foreign enterprises updated on the latest polices and technologies, and help enterprises develop the domestic and international markets and seek partners, during Healthplex Expo 2017 and Natural & Nutraceutical Products China 2017 (HNC2017) in Shanghai, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) and UBM Sinoexpo will continue to organize Nutraceutical Industry Development Conference. Nearly 100 executives and market researchers from the industry attended the conference last year, and most of them said that the industrial experts' detailed explanation of policies and accurate analysis of the market will be effective to import foreign products into China.
Themed "China Market Entry Strategy for Foreign Dietary Supplements" again, the conference will invite heads of state ministries and commissions such as the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), health food review experts, as well as renowned entrepreneurs, to discuss issues such as China's latest nutrition and health policies, the technical requirements of health food registration and filing, cross-border e-commerce, market trends and brand building.
