After electrochemical passivation, a passivation film is formed on the stainless steel matrix surface and is integrated with its matrix. It does not adhere to the surface like a coating, and therefore, it does not shed; on the other hand, the surface maintains the previous surface treatment state after the process-for example, mirror polishing or brushed surface. After electrochemical passivation, the surface remains the original effect without visible appearance change; while, its corrosion resistance is much higher than the original state. The operational test shows that the salt fog resistance test on stainless steel can be improved by many orders of magnitude after the electrochemical passivation.
