It is a colorless or light yellow clear liquid, with opalescence but without turbidity. [Indications]

The product is mainly used for passive immunization of patients bitten or scratched by rabies or other animals carrying rabies virus.

[Strengths]

200 IU per vial (2.0 ml): each vial contains 200 IU of rabies antibodies, and filled volume is 2.0ml.

[Administration and Dosage]

Administration: after timely and thorough debridement, 1/2 of the total dose of this product is injected subcutaneously at the wound site, and the remaining 1/2 is injected intramuscularly (for head bite, it can be injected into the back muscle). WHO suggests that injection should be done at the wound site as much as possible. If there is not enough amount of this product, it can be diluted 2-3 times with normal saline before use.

Dosage: the injection dose is calculated based on 20IU/kg body weight (or as prescribed by the doctor), one injection. If the total dose is more than 10ml, it can be injected in several times within 1~2 days. The rabies vaccine can be injected later, but the injection sites and instruments of the two products should be strictly separated. [Adverse Reactions]

Generally no adverse reactions occur after injection. Redness and swelling or pain in the site of injection may appear in a few people. Normally no treatment is necessary, for it could be recover by itself.

[Contraindications]

1. Those hypersensitivity to human immunoglobulin, or with a history of other severe anaphylaxis.
2. Those with selective IgA deficiency with IgA antibody.
