Abamectin is a widely used agricultural or animal sterilization, insecticide, acaricide. Also known as amedine. Abamectin is a class of cetyl macrolide compounds with bactericidal, insecticidal, acaricidal and nematode activities first developed by tomura and Merck of the United States, and produced by fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis in Streptomyces.

The distribution coefficient is 9.9 x 10^3. It is stable under normal conditions and does not hydrolyze at a pH value of 5 ~ 9.
Abamectin has gastric toxicity and killing effect on mites and insects and cannot kill eggs. Different from common pesticides, the mechanism of action is to interfere with neurophysiological activities and stimulate the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid, which inhibits the nerve conduction of arthropod animals. The adult mites, nymphs and insect larvae presented paralysis symptoms after contact with abamectin. They were inactive and did not feed, and died after 2 ~ 4 days. Abamectin kills slowly because it does not cause the insects to dehydrate quickly. Although abamectin has a direct killing effect on predatory insects and parasitic natural enemies, the damage to beneficial insects is very small because of the small residue on the plant surface. Abamectin does not move when absorbed by soil and is decomposed by microorganisms, so it has no cumulative effect in the environment and can be used as an integral part of integrated control.
