    What is calcium glycerophosphate?

Calcium glycerophosphate, a calcium salt of glycerophosphate, is a Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) food ingredient as a nutritional supplement (a source of calcium or phosphorus) or in foods such as gelatin, puddings, and fillings. It is also present in dental or oral hygiene products due to its anti-crepid action. Calcium glycerophosphate is suggested to promote plaque-pH buffering, increase plaque calcium and phosphate levels, and interact directly with dental minerals 2.

    Product Details Form

    CAS 27214-00-2
    Molecular formula C3H7CaO6P
    Molecular weight 210.14
    EINECS 248-328-5
    Melting point >170℃
Solubility Sparingly soluble in water, practically insoluble in ethanol (96 per cent).

    Characteristic

Calcium glycerophosphate is slightly hygroscopic in air. At 130 °C, it loses crystal water to form anhydrous, and decomposes above 170 °C. Each gram dissolves in about 50ml of 25°C water. When the temperature is lower, it is more soluble in water, and the aqueous solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol, soluble in glycerol. Citric acid or lactic acid can increase its solubility in water, but easily decompose when heated. Commonly used in food calcium fortifier, used in bread, flour, noodles, soymilk, etc. The dosage is below 1%.

    What are the benefits?

    1. Controlling plaque, calcium glycerophosphate has antibacterial and anti-caries effect

    2. Through research, it is found that it can increase the content of calcium and phosphorus in tooth enamel, can inhibit the demineralization of tooth enamel, and can improve the remineralization of tooth enamel.

    3. Influence on the ecological balance of oral flora. In addition, calcium glycerophosphate can improve the absorption of fluoride. Adding 0.1% to 0.13% calcium glycerophosphate to toothpaste containing SMFP can greatly improve the absorption rate of fluoride by enamel and strengthen the fluoridation effect of enamel against demineralization.

    4. Calcium glycerophosphate can change the acidity and alkalinity of tooth enamel surface and enhance its antacid ability.

    5. Fortified foods with nutrients and calcium

    Food field

Nutritional supplement; calcium fortifier for food; stabilizer. For baby food, bread, baking powder, wheat flour and noodles, etc. The addition amount is 1% or less (calculated as Ca).

    Oral care field

Calcium glycerophosphate is an excellent additive for oral products, especially suitable for calcium-supplemented toothpaste and chewing gum.

    Mechanism

Calcium glycerophosphate in combination with sodium monofluorophosphate was found to reduce the acid solubility of enamel. This is thought to be due to increased uptake of fluoride in a non-alkali soluble form at the expense of a fraction remaining in the alkali-soluble form of calcium fluoride . It is also thought that calcium glycerophosphate enhances the remineralization effect of sodium monofluorophosphate leading to greater remineralization of enamel but the mechanism behind this is unknown.

Calcium glycerophosphate reduces the decrease in plaque pH produced by sucrose solutions. This may be due to the buffering action of donated phosphate which acts as an acceptor to three hydrogen ions to form biphosphate, dihydrogen phosphate, and finally phosphoric acid. As bisphosphate and dihydrogen phosphate are amphoteric, these molecules can act as buffers against both acids and bases.

    Our packaging

Our packing method is 1KG/Aluminium bags, 25kg/drum

For some products that require special packaging during transportation, we will carry out more delicate packaging. For example, retinal needs to be stored at -20 °C, so we choose cold chain transportation during transportation; deoxyarbutin will change color during transportation, so we will Vacuum packing of deoxyarbutin
