N-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone

N-vinylpyrrolidone is a chemical with a molecular formula of C6H9NO. It is a colorless liquid. Easy to polymerize into polyvinylpyrrolidone. It is miscible with water, ethanol, ether and other organic solvents, and is easily copolymerized with other ethylene compounds.

Application

1.It is produced industrially by reacting 2-pyrrolidone with acetylene.

2.It is the precursor to polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), an important synthetic material.

3.The NVP monomer is commonly used as a reactive diluent in ultraviolet and electron-beam curable polymers applied to inks, woods, metal, coatings or adhesives.
