What is Histidine？

Histidine is an alpha-amino acid with the chemical formula C6H9N3O2 and is one of the biological Essential amino acid. It was first isolated in 1896 by a German physicist Albrecht Kossel. Histidine is known nutritionally as a human Essential amino acid, and is particularly important for child growth and development. In adulthood, humans can synthesize histidine on their own.

Histidine is a natural l-type chiral α-amino acid. It is one of the aromatic amino acid, similar to L-Phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan. It has a basic group, the imidazole ring, which determines its aroma and chemical property. Histidine plays an important role in many biochemical reactions in organisms, such as decarboxylation, formation of redox and histamine.
