Sialic acid

Both sialic acid and neuraminic acid are usually broadly called neuraminic acid conjugates. This product is a characteristic component of the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria. Through Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4), this product can partially stimulate innate immune cells with lipid A. Studies have found that N-acetylneuraminic acid is usually the terminal sugar of cell surface glycoproteins. Cell surface glycoproteins play an important role in cell recognition, cell interaction and cell adhesion. Membrane glycoproteins also play an important role in tumor growth and metastasis.
