Sulindac

Sulindac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with remarkable efficacy in the treatment of colonic polyposis. Structurally speaking, sullinic acid belongs to the sulfoxide class of drugs. It has no therapeutic effect on rheumatic and rheumatoid arthritis by itself. However, it can be converted by liver enzymes into sulfides that inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins, and can also be metabolized in the body into sulfoxide compounds that have the effect of treating colonic polyps and inhibiting the deterioration of early cancer. Sulinic acid is a precursor drug with extremely low activity. After entering the human body, it is metabolized into an active sulfide, which can inhibit cyclooxygenase and reduce the synthesis of prostaglandins, thereby having analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects.
