Institute of Medical Biology Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences

Institute of Medical Biology Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (herein as IMBCAMS) is a national institute integrating medical scientific research and biological products development, production and sales. With more than a half century of development, IMBCAMS has established an independent and innovative vaccine development system in the whole industry chain from laboratory research, pre-clinical research, pilot scale up, clinical research, industrial production, and post-marketing monitoring.

In the past 65 years, IMBCAMS has developed a whole range of polio vaccines contributing to the global eradication of poliomyelitis (i.e. OPV and Sabin IPV). More than 200 million doses of Hepatitis A vaccine from IMBCAMS have been supplied to the Chinese EPI program, which has played an important role in the reduction of Hepatitis A incidence in China. From concept to practice, IMBCAMS conducted in-depth research on Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) that has numerous outbreaks in the Asia-Pacific region.

By using international standards as benchmark, a comprehensive and stringent quality management system covering all aspects of product lifecycle has been formulated in lMBCAMS. The state-of-art facilities for commercialized production of vaccine products are constructed based upon WHO, PIC/s, or other globally recognized GMP guidelines.
