DATWYLER EXPANDS INTO CHINA WITH ACQUISITION OF YANTAI XINHUI PACKING

The Switzerland-based maker of system-critical pharmaceutical packaging and medical device components will bring its 100-year history of manufacturing excellence to its eighth plant worldwide to meet the demands of the evolving Chinese healthcare market.

Altdorf, Switzerland and Shandong, China, 03, March 2022—Datwyler has completed its acquisition of Chinese Yantai Xinhui Packing, representing the first foothold in the largest emerging pharmaceutical market for its Healthcare business. Located in Shandong, Xinhui manufactures elastomer components, such as isoprene rubber discs, which complement Datwyler’s current portfolio of pharmaceutical packaging and medical solutions. This addition will help Datwyler—headquartered in Altdorf, Switzerland—strengthen local production, innovation, and customer support for drug manufacturers in China.

Datwyler will bring its technological expertise,100 years of global industry experience, its quality-first manufacturing philosophy, and its financial power to invest in the expansion of the already modernized production capacity. These factors will help position Datwyler as the market leader for innovation and quality control. Datwyler’s Healthcare Solutions business manufactures high-quality, system-critical elastomer components, including NeoFlex™ plungers for syringe applications and OmniFlex stoppers™ as well as other sealing solutions for vials and cartridges. Datwyler will later announce which best-in-class products from its current portfolio will be manufactured at the Xinhui facility for the Chinese market.

Xinhui’s recently refurbished plant will operate at Datwyler’s Advanced production level, representing a proven and reliable facility for manufacturing components that meet the highest regulatory expectations and cater to small molecule drugs which require extraordinary quality and production flexibility. The current plant generates annual revenue of $16 million. However, production capacity could stand to double with activation of spare capacity within the plant’s current footprint.
