Jiangzhong was selected for TCM health product intelligent manufacturing pilot demonstration in 2016, which was quite remarkable. How do you define the development trajectory of Jiangzhong?

Mr. Zhong: As a traditional TCM enterprise growing from a small school-run factory, Jiangzhong Group has highly valued equipment and technology upgrading over its more than 30 years of development. It built and put into production the TCM solid preparation connected workshop largest in China in 2003, which won a silver award of the Ministry of Construction of China; it has developed Jianweixiaoshi Tablets and Caoshanhu Buccal Tablets and other salable OTC varieties, making the company number one in the TCM tablet scale and production in the industry; it built the first unmanned TCM oral liquid preparation production line in 2012, realizing the leap of TCM production from automation to intelligence.

Editor: Production information currently continues to heat up. Why do you think the production informatization will become the development trend of the global pharmaceutical industry in the next few years?

Mr. Zhong: Pharmaceutical products are special commodity related to people’s lives, health, and safety, and the new generation of information technology, industrial internet, big data and intelligent equipment and other technologies will achieve intelligent control and online precise quality control, as well as high quality, high efficiency, and low-carbon and green manufacturing during the pharmaceutical product manufacturing. This is a challenge as well as an opportunity the pharmaceutical industry is facing.

Editor: What do you think is the biggest difficulty for plants to achieve automation and informatization transformation? What are the solutions?

Mr. Zhong: Process layout as well as development and declared processes of pharmaceutical products have some limitations and technological lags as restricted or influenced by the technical conditions then prevailing. The upgrading and transformation of original production lines must be based on the process requirements of specific varieties, with a focus on the upgrading and transformation of equipment for critical process steps. And the upgrading and transformation of equipment must be based on process optimization.
