Many researches have been founded that active ingredients in Coriolus versicolor are the Polysaccharides and Polysaccharide krestin (PSK, a protein-bound polysaccharide) and Polysaccharide-Peptide (PSP).Its Polysaccharides have antitumour activity against various tumour cells in rats, sarcoma -180(80%) and ascites cancer(100%).

They are chemically similar but distinguished by fucose in PSK and rhamnose and arabinose in PSP. The polypeptide component contains mostly glutamic and aspartic acids and the polysaccharides contain primarily alpha-1,4 and beta-1,3 glucosidic linkages.
