Applications:

1. Aquatic products

Due to the extensive role of vitamin B1 in aquatic animals, long-term shortage of vitamin B1 not only affects its growth, but also causes a series of deficiency disorders through metabolic response disorders in vivo. The study found that shrimp, crabs and other crustaceans could not synthesize vitamin B1 or the amount of synthesis was very small, difficult to meet their physiological needs, so it must be obtained by artificial feeding. Some scholars studied the content related to the promotion of sugar metabolism by vitamin B1 in penaeus chinensis, and found that the diet of vitamin B1 must be 60mg/kg to make full use of the sugar source in the bait. 

2. Poultry

Vitamin B1 also plays an important role in the growth of poultry. The results showed that dietary thiamine higher than 1.0mg/kg significantly increased the body weight gain of broilers aged 3 weeks and 4 to 7 weeks (P < 0.01), and the requirements of broilers aged 0 to 3 weeks and 4 to 7 weeks were 4.0mg/kg and 1.6mg/kg, respectively. Therefore, it can be shown that vitamin B1 is essential in poultry feed formula.

3. Ruminant

Vitamin B1 has special nutritional effect on ruminants. It was found that during the peak lactation period, dairy cows were prone to decrease milk yield due to the absence of concentrate, which could be treated by intramuscular injection of 0.25% vitamin B1 30mL. In light cases, they began to eat food on the 2nd day after injection, and in severe cases, they would return to normal after 2-3 times of medication. Another study found that Wernicke's encephalopathy was caused by a long period of fasting, leading to thiamine deficiency and further onset, which was mainly treated by vitamin B1. If diagnosed in time, it could be recovered after treatment. In addition, vitamin B1 is a specific drug in the treatment of bovine ketone body disease, equine myoglobinuria, and is widely used in organophosphorus poisoning, food poisoning and drug poisoning.
