Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium

[Character] It’s white or yellowish fibrous or granular powder, odorless, hygroscopicity. Swelling into a colloidal  solution in water, insoluble in ethanol or chloroform.

[Usage] CMC-Na has the function of adhesive, help suspending, thickening, emulsify, controlled-release etc. It’s used as suspending agent , thickener and emulsifier in liquid preparations, as gel matrix in semisolid preparations, as adhesive, disintegrant controlled-release material in solid preparation such as tablets. In food industrials it’s widely used as thickener and stabilizer. CMC-Na can be used in daily chemical industry also, just like in the manufacturing of shampoo, hair lotion, abstergent and so on.
